ENGLISH
Currently, Ms. Picard has uploaded two assignments to Schoology for students to work on as they complete the reading of the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird.  She will be working over the next week to upload an additional unit around the novel The Book Thief (available on her blog and Schoology).  Students were not given hard copies of this novel prior to leaving school; however, there will be links to other methods of reading the novel posted as soon as possible.  Additionally, libraries are allowing residents to download audiobooks for free!  If students have questions they can e-mail Ms. Picard and she will do her best to respond in a timely manner.  Ms. Picard will also be emailing all students with this information and more once things are updated.  This work is not mandatory, but will help keep students focusing on academics.  Additionally, Ms. Picard encourages all students to put down their screens and head outside for at least one hour a day!

Currently, the anticipated return date for students and staff is April 7th.  This is the same week as Ms. Picard's due date, so it is possible that she may not be back for the remainder of the school year.  She will be working over the next week to ensure plans for A Midsummer Night's Dream are ready for when students return.  This unit will be supported by the other two 8th grade ELA teachers and our team special education teacher, Ms. A.

Ms. Picard has been working and will continue to work on getting all assignments entered into Aspen.  This should be complete by the end of the day tomorrow (Tuesday 3/17.)  Due to these extreme and unique circumstances, graded assignments cannot be redone or made up if missing. However, Ms. Picard will be leaving some extra credit options with her maternity leave plans that students may submit in place of a missing or low grade.  As a reminder, Ms. Picard has been very transparent about the importance of meeting deadlines all quarter, as even before the school shutdown, she could not guarantee she'd be here at the end of the term.

Lastly, Ms. Picard hopes that all remain safe and well over the next few weeks
